1. Install and Test Smoke, Propane, and Carbon Monoxide Detectors:
Test these alarms weekly during use and replace batteries regularly.

2. Equip Multiple Fire Extinguishers and Know Their Use:
Place extinguishers near exits and high-risk areas, and train all family members.

3. Inspect Propane Lines and Appliances Regularly:
Look for kinks, leaks, and connection issues; have annual professional inspections.

4. Have and Practice an Escape Plan with Two Exits:
Ensure everyone—pets included—knows emergency escape routes and meeting points.

5. Never Leave Cooking or Appliances Unattended:
Stay with your cooking and shut off burners if you leave the area.

6. Check Electrical Cords and Outlets for Damage; Avoid Overloads:
Use only heavy-duty extension cords rated for RVs; replace any frayed cords immediately.

7. Keep Flammable Items Away from All Heat Sources:
Store combustibles far from stoves, heaters, and 12-volt lights that may get hot.

8. Maintain Mechanical Systems and Fuel Lines:
Inspect radiator hoses, fuel lines, and brake systems to reduce risk of leaks and malfunctions.

9. Store Flammable Liquids Properly and Monitor for Leaks:
Keep propane, gasoline, and charcoal dry and securely contained—handle spills promptly.

10. Use Electric Heaters Safely and Monitor Their Position:
Choose heaters with tip-over protection, place them where things won't fall on them, and avoid high-wattage settings when not on shore power.

So there you have it, folks! Follow these fire prevention tips, and you'll be well on your way to a safe and enjoyable RV adventure. Until next time, stay safe and keep on RVing!
